Jerry Kolber, the Emmy nominated, co-creator of National Geographic’s #1 series ‘BRAIN GAMES’, is a trailblazer in the realm of edutainment. Together with creative partner Adam “Tex” Davis, Jerry has consistently pushed the boundaries of learning and entertainment. In the true crime genre, Jerry is known for redeveloping ‘Homicide Hunter’ into Discovery ID’s top show. As the co-creator (along with Davis) of the Netflix science show BRAINCHILD, and Host of the hit kids’ educational podcast ‘WHO SMARTED?’, Jerry shows off his unmatched talent for seamlessly blending knowledge and fun.
A certified meditation instructor, Jerry brings a unique mindfulness approach to his diverse portfolio, including A&E’s ‘INKED’, ‘CONFESSIONS OF A MATCHMAKER’, and the Netflix space documentary ’14 MINUTES FROM EARTH.’ Ironically, Jerry had recently sworn off working in the true crime space due to the grim reality of dealing with such dark content. However, the cases in Slaycation were so uniquely fascinating and off the wall, he couldn’t say no when Kim and Adam asked him to be part of this project!
Kim Davis, a wife, mother, crafter extraordinaire and New Yorker to her core, is a multifaceted kind of gal who has enjoyed performing in a multitude of varying disciplines from dance, theater, film, and publishing. As a social worker specializing in domestic violence, Kim experienced firsthand some of the darkness people are capable of. However, her true passion has always been true crime. An avid reader of crime books, her side of the bedroom looks like the crime section of the library. Kim was an OG true crime fan from the early days of FIRST 48 and FORENSIC FILES right up through the 24 hour murder porn of Discovery ID and Oxygen networks. Feeling she missed her calling as a crime scene investigator or working in forensics, Kim has done the next best thing by helping create and host her very own true crime podcast.
Anyone who knows her knew it was just a matter of time.
Making it even more fun, is the opportunity of working with her comedy writer husband and best friend, Adam and longtime family friend Jerry. As part of the format, Kim selects the cases and does the majority of the research in order to walk listeners through the case. Kim insists her obsession with true crime is an attempt to understand how humans can be capable of such evil… But so far the answer remains unknown. Yet the quest continues.
Adam “Tex” Davis has spent over 25 years working as a comedy writer, director and sometimes performer, including the hit Christmas romcom classic JUST FRIENDS (starring Ryan Reynolds, Amy Smart & Anna Faris). Adam is also an Emmy nominated co-creator of BRAIN GAMES, as well as co-creator/head writer for Netflix’s BRAINCHILD and the WHO SMARTED? podcast. Adam has a gift for bringing humor to subjects that aren’t usually associated with being funny, like neuroscience, kids’ educational content and now… murder. Davis came up with the name Slaycation after hearing about a vacation murder that made the news. However, on the show, he deliberately avoids knowing anything about the case until Kim and Jerry begin telling the story. This allows Adam to learn the details in real-time in order to use his wit to lighten the mood while asking the questions the listener would. Davis is also fascinated by serial killers and murder, so he and his wife Kim make a good fit. However, Kim’s insistence on going to bed to the sweet sound of murder shows has Adam sleeping with one eye open. Married close to 24 years, Adam & Kim enjoy working, playing and vacationing together. Adam has known Jerry for over 30 years and they’ve been working together for the last 15.
